Wind blowing
Standing at the edge of a cliff
Watching waves beat against the rocks
A girl
Brown hair floating around her
In a torn dress
A dagger at her thigh
Contemplating the jump
Hands out wide
Like she's ready to fly
Leaning against the wind
Waiting for it to fail her like everything else
Car tires spinning
Driving up to the cliff
To stand and see the storm
A boy
Sees something unexpected
A girl in a torn dress
Standing at the edge
Leaning in to the wind
Running out of the car
Fear running through his heart
Feet thumping the ground
Hands around her waist
Pulling her away from the edge
Falling in a heap
Kaylie falls into a heap in a strangers arms
Crying and sobbing
Curling up in a ball
Leaning into the strangers chest
It starts to rain
Drenching them both
Ryan has his arms around a total stranger
Shocked
This girl that he pulled away from the edge
Has collapsed in tears
He pulls his jacket around both of them
It has started to pour
The pain and the sorrow is too much
Strangling her
She starts to shift around
Looking for her dagger
Her sobs quiet
As her fingers close around it
She relaxes
Feeling the warm wet blood drip on her hand
Ryan feels something warm splash on his pants
Lifts up the girls hand to check what it is
And sees her hand dripping with blood
Pries her fingers open
While she is yelling and screaming at him
He sees a silver dagger
Covered in her blood
Takes it out of her hand
And throws it off the cliff
Kaylie screams and lunges for the falling dagger
Hands wrap around her waist
Making her stay
Holding her there
Where she didn't belong
Turns around and starts fighting to be released from the strangers grasp
Punching and scratching
Yelling and Kicking
To get free
My name is Ryan
The girl is still struggling to go over the edge
Holding tight
To this strange girl
In the torn dress
Wondering what has gone so wrong in her life
LET GO
She screams into Ryan's chest
As all the fight goes out of her
She slumps into him again
Ryan hugs her closer to his chest
Trying to keep safe the lost soul he found
"It'll be OK"
The rain is beating down on them harder
He can feel the girl shivering against his chest
Ryan stands up
Picks her up when he stands
"What's your name?"
"Kaylie" she says
"OK we're going to sit in my car"
Walks her to the car
Opens the passenger seat
And places her gently inside
Walks around as fast as he can
Opens his door and hops in
Turns the car on
The radio blasting immediately
Turns it off quick
Grabs a blanket from the back seat
And wraps it around the girl
Sits back in his seat and turns on the heater
Waiting for the car to warm up
And for the girl to say something
Or to cry
To scream and moan
"Why?"
Ryan looks at her
Maybe he thinks to himself she didn't say anything
"Why did you pull me down?"
She had
"Because no one deserves to die"
"How do you know that,
Maybe some people were never supposed to be born"
"Why do you think that?" Ryan asked her.
"Because, because I just know"
"But how?"
"Peoples actions" she replies
"What do my actions say about you?" Ryan asks
"That you think everyone can be saved when its not true"
"Well you have to want to be saved to be...."
"I don't want to be saved anymore" Kaylie interrupted.
"What if I want to save you?" Ryan asked
"Than I wish you luck"
Bringing her knees up to her chest
Wrapping her arms around her knees
Leaning against the car door
She puts her head on her knees
Quietly starting to cry
Ryan just looks at her in wonderment
Of how she could be in so much pain
Who had made this girl hurt so much?
So much she was willing to take her own life
He wrapped the blanket tighter around her
He starts up the car
Starts driving slowly
Back down the hill
Away from the cliff
Away from the almost death
In a torn dress
A dagger at her thigh
Contemplating the jump
Hands out wide
Like she's ready to fly
Leaning against the wind

"Because you will freeze to death in what you are wearing right now"
"Death wouldn't be a bad thing though"
"You may be fine with death, Kaylie, but I am not
You may say you want to die but really you want your suffering to end."
"And death will make all the suffering end"
"You never know if it will end or if it will get worse with death"
